“The Overcomers Institute”:

The Overcomers Institute deals primarily with spiritual warfare on two battlefronts—the flesh in which we live, and Satan, the enemy of our soul. This material is geared for the development of the local body.  Much of it deals with subtle forms of warfare, some not always directly attributable to demons such as, worry, anxiety, depression, discouragement, bitterness, criticism, and negativism.  One of our deepest concerns has to do with disunity in Christ’s body.  How many churches could have gone on to win souls for the Kingdom, but wound up, rather, in division over senseless and selfish motives?

Another aspect of the material deals with commitment or lack of it to the local church body.  This is a primary issue and often a serious frustration among pastors.

We try to be careful so as not to glorify the enemy in any of the material.

Session 1:  The Case for Spiritual Warfare and Christian Involvement:

Session 2:  The Need for Direct Participation with Jesus:

1.  Jesus is the only way to the Father (Act 4:12).  “There is no other name…”

2.  Jesus is the Captain of our salvation.  (Heb 2:10 KJV).

3.  Only Jesus has power over demons.  (Matt 28:18).  “All power is given unto Me…”

4.  Only Jesus can give authority to stand against demons.  (Luke 10:19). “Behold I give you authority…”

5.  Only Jesus can change us into what God originally created us to be.  (2 Cor 5:17).

6.  Only Jesus can introduce us to the Holy Spirit.  (Send Comforter.  John 14:26).

7.     Jesus is the Creator.

Demons are not figments of human imagination.

They are not concepts.

They are not ideas.

They are not explanations for the evil found in human beings.

Demons are real.

Demons are fallen angels.

The leader of the demons is an angel originally called Lucifer.

 b.  The Flesh in Which We Live:

The Fall.  (Gen 3:6-7).

The power of the fallen nature, often referred to as the Old Man.

The power of the mind and body.  (Rom 7:14-26).

Session 4:  Goals, Motives, and Purposes of Demons:

1.  Blinds the minds of men.  (2 Cor 4:4)

2.  Masquerades as an angel of light.  (2 Cor 11:13-14)

3.  Rules the world.  (Luke 4:7)

4.  Steals, kills, and destroys.  (John 10:10)

5.  Steals the Word of God.  (Mat 13:19)

6.  Accuses God’s people.  (Rev 12:10)

7.  Teaches doctrines.  (1 Tim 4:1)

8.  Sows tares.  (Mat 13:37-39)

9.  Causes sickness and disease.  (Mat 9:32-33; Acts 10:37-38)

10.  Hinders praying.  (Dan 10;12-13)
